Hula is a uniquely Hawaiian dance accompanied by chant or song that preserves and perpetuates the stories, traditions and culture of Hawaii. Hawaiian legends tell stories of hula beginning on the islands of Molokai and Kauai. Today, this enchanting art form has become a worldwide symbol of Hawaiian culture and the beauty of Hawaii's people
Modern interpretations include costumes fashioned of contemporary man-made materials
In pre-European Polynesia, dances ‘were many and varied’ (W. Ellis, 1831) but little else is known about them. All we know is that both men and women danced, together or separately. Certain dances were performed standing up, others sitting down. Musicians used to accompany the dances with a limited number of instruments, essentially the pahu (drum with two skins) the vivo, a nasal flute.
We will take you on a journey where we will embrace the beauty of fire. In This Fire Show, that will dance with Tahitian Drumming. We will perform different dances from Hawaii, New Zealand, Tahiti, and Samoa with fire.
Fire performance includes skills based on juggling, baton twirling, poi spinning, and other forms of object manipulation. Fire is consider one of the most dangerous performances around the world.
